Dear Northlake Family: After a decade of serving the volleyball community in Atlanta, fielding hundreds of teams and providing a home for more than a thousand aspiring athletes, it is with heavy hearts that the Board has decided to end club operations. Recent developments in DeKalb County facilities policies have made it difficult, if not impossible, for us to predictably assure reliable gym space for our program. Our club is a non-profit organization that has always provided the lowest cost, highest value volleyball training to our members. The new gym rental policies established by the County (not the school principals) would dramatically increase our operational costs, limit our planning flexibility and prove to be a scheduling headache for us. Northlake Volleyball has been a Partner in Education with Henderson Middle School and has worked with all our DeKalb schools to provide playing opportunities for their students, equipment for their facilities, and any special support that they may have required. It is getting increasingly difficult for any community-based programs to find quality gym space, not just in DeKalb County, but throughout the metro area. We would like to express a heartfelt thank you to each family and athlete that has been a part of Northlake Volleyball over the last decade. It has been our pleasure serving you and we wish you the best of luck in your volleyball careers. Additionally we would like to thank Terese Allen, principal of Henderson Middle School for her support and leadership. We would also like to thank the dedicated custodial staff of Henderson Middle School for the nightly personal attention we always received. You folks were our best fans. We would also like to thank the administration, staff, and parents at Lakeside High School and Coach Caryn Gartner and the staff at Peachtree Middle School for all their support over the years. To all our coaches, thank you for the time, dedication, and energy you have given over the years. A great program has great coaches and you all were fantastic to work with. We wish you well in your coaching endeavors. We would also like to thank the players and coaches of the Emory University women's volleyball team for their ongoing coaching and support of the program and for all they do to enhance the quality of volleyball in Georgia.
